Feeding the Grounded Birds, 2011.

In the way that birds spend all day looking for sustenance, in Feeding the Grounded Birds, Jesus Mejia & Ruth draw a parallel to the activities of birds and the draw to art making. The artists’ investigation mimics the bird’s continuous hunt for nourishment in that one is lead to unexpected places to find it. The search for sustenance and the art experience intertwine. As Robert Irwin concluded, “all art is experience, yet all experience is not art.”
