Previously performed at Happy Collaborationist Exhibition Space and Womanmade Gallery in Chicago, “Dually Noted” explores the reception of acknowledgement, specifically from fathers.
By stitching the words, “I am your son,” a dual gender was created, one of text and one of shape. The shape of Bovinich’s body and the stitching reads a feminine presence, but the word “son” and the declaration of such is a theme in paternal identity and legacy. Here, sons and daughters are dually presented, debasing the difference between the two.
